‘ELEMENTAL’, Judith Russell – 6th February to 28th February 2016
Heraclitus wrote: No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. Since living in the open heights of Oberon I have been conscious that the same applies to the sky. If anything, the sky is more ephemeral than the river which changes slowly, except in flood. The sky is also completely democratic, no-one owns it and everyone can look at it equally.
In my works for this exhibition I have tried to reflect the sky’s changeable nature, its violent drama, it soft-clouded serenity, by working in a variety of media. Kiln-formed glass, paintings, prints and pastels, all hopefully provide a different colour, texture or mood.
Opening: 6th Fabruray at 2pm
Exhibition open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 3pm
